Artist Statement

Ambiguity is a central idea of my work, a state of being in-between. Having been born and raised in a non-western culture (Asmara, Eritrea) puts me in a unique place where I can examine, juxtapose, and locate myself somewhere scattered within the East African and western cultures. by confronting uncertain concepts such as time, identity and history I leave the viewer to reconcile and imagine alternative possibilities.
